Statement: Hamad Medical corporation

It is with great sadness that we inform you several of our HMC family members have been devastated by a residential fire yesterday. 

One of our team members, Mr Rafael Pingul, 45, and his daughter, Micaela, 13, are in critical condition and his wife, Chona, 47, has died as a result of the incident.  Their son, Raffi, 15, also remains under our care at this time.  Mr Pingul is an operating theater technician and has been with HMC since 1999.

Our team at Hamad General Hospital, with help from others, is doing everything possible to support this family and their loved ones. 

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of other staff members and their families housed in the building, HMC has taken immediate steps to provide suitable emergency accommodation for them. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pingul family at this difficult time.
