Sohar International Celebrates Ministry of Health on Guinness Record for Nation Wide Blood Donation Campaign

Sohar International recently organised a formal dinner event in honour of the Ministry of Health achievement in breaking the Guinness World Record with the National Blood Donation Drive, which successfully attracted 5,555 donors within the first 8 hours, adding another international accolade for Oman. This initiative comes in line with Sohar International’s drive to celebrate the nation’s achievements and build sustainable relationships with the public sector.

The event was graced by H.E. Dr. Darwish Saif Al Maharbi – MOH’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs and members of the Ministry’s Fellow Fund. Welcoming guests from Sohar International were Mr Khalil Salim Al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer along with other member of the senior management team. Following dinner at the Angham Restaurant of the Opera Galleria Muscat, Mr Al Hedaifi presented a token of appreciation and recognition to H.E. Darwish Saif Al Maharbi – MOH’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and wished the team more success in their endeavours.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Khalil al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer, Sohar International said, “We celebrate this extraordinary achievement and commend the Ministry of Health’s efforts of raising the flag of Oman in the international health scene. Blood donation, whilst the simplest form of donation is one of the most valuable contributions to society. Initiatives like this raise tremendous awareness and strengthen partnerships between public, private and civil communities. By celebrating the Ministry of Health’s efforts we aim to boost the spirit of achievement and winning within the community. We would also like to thank each member of the public for their precious donation that made this feat achievable.”

Under the theme ‘Your Blood is a Life for the other’, this monumental initiative saw 5,555 people donating blood across nine governorates within eight hours breaking the previous record of 1,717 achieved by the Ministry in 2016.

Supporting national initiatives and celebrating achievements of the nation is pivotal to Sohar International’s strategy.
