Siemens to cooperate with Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic to train young Saudis

Siemens in Saudi Arabia has signed a contract for the training and employment of 40 graduates from the Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic (SPSP). The duration of the training program will be two years at SPSP, whereby students will go through multiple vocational trainings, and one year on the job training with Siemens.
Head of Human Resources in Siemens in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Shadi Aldaoud said, “In accordance with the Saudi government’s efforts in hiring Saudis into the local workforce, as Siemens in Saudi Arabia, we are proud of this agreement with SPSP which will cultivate the development of local Saudi talent and expertise. This is the beginning of a series of training and recruitment programs geared towards Saudis.”
This program is one of many educational initiatives Siemens is conducting in the Kingdom, contributing to the development of young Nationals and preparing them for a successful and sustainable career.
Students will have the opportunity to take a variety of theoretical courses such as English, Math, Health, Safety and Work Ethics and practical courses related to the electrical or mechanical field.
This program is geared to enable young local talents to enhance their professional and vocational competencies in various fields. The commitment of Siemens to the development of local human resources is considered as one of the success factors of Siemens in the Kingdom. It supports not only the efforts of building a competent and stable work force but also indicates the continuous commitment of Siemens to the development of the country and its human capital.
Commenting on the occasion, SPSP’s Managing Director, Mr. Abdullah Al Yami said, “Our goal at SPSP is to work collaboratively and in partnership with industry to provide the highest quality training programs for young Saudis to enable them to gain employment within the petroleum services industry.”
In February of this year, Siemens announced its intention to invest 3-digits US million dollars in the construction of a gas turbine manufacturing facility in the Eastern province in Saudi Arabia. The facility will create qualified jobs and serve as a center of excellence and a technological hub for knowledge transfer. The training agreement with SPSP is in line with the establishment of this facility which is part of the Siemens Saudi Arabia Energy Commitment.
