Sharjah Museums celebrates Iftar feast with Orphans

Capturing the spirit of Ramadan, the Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) hosted an iftar banquet on 24 July 2013, inviting 40 orphans for the second consecutive year in Sharjah Science Museum through the auspices of Sharjah Charity International.
As a part of SMD’s social responsibility initiative (SRI) "Because We Care", the event reflects the joys of sharing and being inspired by the holy month. Through its SRI, the department strives to achieve excellence by engaging in activities that fosters social good; benefitting the museums as well as the community at large.
In this occasion Manal Ataya, Director General, Sharjah Museums Department said; “Our objective is to embrace social responsibility and encourage a positive impact through various SRI activities involving all the members of the community. It is a pleasure to be hosting this annual event for the children and create a much needed atmosphere of fun and togetherness for them".
Ataya also thanked Sharjah Charity International for their participation and cooperation in making this event a success.
To create a fun filled atmosphere among children, the banquet also included scientific activities such as monitoring the moon through an advanced telescope and observing the planets, laser and magic shows, face painting, and a tour of the museum.
Sharjah Museums Department also hosted an Iftar banquet for its staff members and their families at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Hall in the University City, Sharjah last week.
The move is in line with SMD’s strategy to build and strengthen social relationships of its employees and their families. The Iftar banquet was attended by employees from various divisions along with their families.
Attendees participated at competitions and mind nourishing group activities. Several topics were also discussed and views exchanged pertaining to work environment and the role of museums in promoting and enhancing arts & culture in Sharjah and the UAE.
