Sharjah Islamic Bank hosts Iftar gathering for the Old People’s Home in Sharjah
As part of the activities of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, that is being held in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah rest his soul in peace), Sharjah Islamic Bank, in collaboration with Sharjah Social Services Department, hosted an Iftar gathering for the elderly at the Old People’s Home in Sharjah.
The initiative came as part of the bank’s pursuit to incorporate the principles of corporate social responsibility and was attended by 40 seniors from the Old People’s Home in Sharjah and a large number of officials and employees from Sharjah Islamic Bank’s departments and branches.
The bank aimed at creating an atmosphere of joy among seniors to honor the memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundations of philanthropy in the UAE, especially as this occasion comes in Ramadan, the month of giving, mercy, solidarity and compassion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Abdullah said: “The name of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah rest his soul in peace) is a synonymous with giving inside the UAE and abroad, and he was well known for his cross-border philanthropy. We are still learning much generosity, benevolence and charity from his honorable track record”.
HE Afaf Al Marri, Director of the Sharjah Social Services Department, said: “We are all deeply grateful and indebted to the late Sheikh Zayed who taught us giving and benevolence, and was keen to pass these values from generation to generation. We are thrilled of this generous initiative by Sharjah Islamic Bank at the department’s Elderly Home, which was highly welcomed. We highly appreciate this step which contributes to strengthening the social fabric, a concern which was reiterated by the late Sheikh Zayed (May Allah rest his soul in peace)”.
After the Iftar, the bank’s officials and employee’s showed eagerness to sit and speak with the seniors in a warm atmosphere of solidarity, fraternal friendship and joy. The bank’s management distributed gifts to seniors at the end of the function in their honor and in recognition of their role in society.
