Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has signed on as Silver Sponsor of the Sharjah Football Club until the end of the current season, which will see the bank's logo put on the shirt sleeves of the first team, in addition to being prominently throughout the club's stadium.

The sponsorship agreement between Sharjah Islamic Bank and the Sharjah Football Club was formalised with a signing ceremony held at the headquarters of the Sharjah Sports and Cultural Club. The agreement was signed by Abdul Nasser Al Midfa, Head of Retail Credit Services at SIB, and Ibrahim Al Nemer, CEO of the Sharjah Sports and Cultural Club, in the presence of Hassan Al Balghouni, Hassan Al Balgoni, Head of Public Relations and CSR division at the SIB, and a number of officials from both the bank and the club.

The sponsorship contract, which will remain valid until the end of the 2013/2014 season, provides for the use of SIB’s logo at the club's press conferences alongside the logos of other sponsors, placing SIB's logo on billboards in the Sharjah Sports Club Stadium, as well as on the Club's official website and on match tickets.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Nasser Al Midfa said this sponsorship comes in line with the Bank's corporate social responsibility and its commitment towards developing local sports.

He added, "We are very keen to contribute to developing Emirati sports and moving it forward so as to boost the UAE's competitive edge in the sports arena, as well as to motivate this prestigious club to continue to achieve further accomplishments in the Gulf Cup and regional and Arab competitions and championships, especially as the club is named after the emirate of Sharjah, and represents the UAE."

Al Midfa pointed out that SIB's support for the Sharjah Football Club is evidence of the strategic relationship binding the bank and the sports sector, as well as its eagerness to support national institutions in Sharjah and its desire to keep contact with the youth and encourage them to benefit from spending their time engaged in useful activities, such as sports and hobbies.

Ibrahim Al Nemer said, "Sharjah Islamic Bank is one of the most outstanding banking institutions in the financial sector, and is also a pioneer in the field of banking innovations and customer service. We are happy to be one of the most prominent sponsors of the club for the 2013/2014 season. I am confident that this will contribute to consolidating the bank's leading role in corporate social responsibility and increase its communication with football fans and sports audiences in general."

SIB's contributions in support of CSR have exceeded the limits of its traditional functions, represented in supporting entrepreneurs and aiding them in achieving their goals, to contributing actively in serving various segments of the community. The bank also sponsors numerous events and seminars related to seasonal, voluntary, and charity activities, which reflects the commitment of the Board Members of Sharjah Islamic Bank and its Executive Management to the principles of corporate social responsibility.
