Second group of Bahrainis complete Tamkeen’s graphic design training programme

Tamkeen held a graduation ceremony on Sunday (4th October) in the Capital Club for the second group of young Bahrainis who enrolled in Tamkeen’s graphic design training programme. The graduates were employed in a number of businesses and organisations.

The programme, conducted in partnership with twofour54, the commercial arm of Abu Dhabi’s media zone, and Capital Knowledge Institute, aims to prepare 50 young Bahrainis for a career in the media sector, in line with Tamkeen’s efforts to develop the skills and capabilities of Bahrainis according to labour market needs and further their contribution the national economy.

The 17 graduates in this year’s class increases the total number of Bahrainis training through the programme to 33. The third and final group of Bahrainis have commenced their training in May 2015.

The course consists of 6 months of intensive theoretical training delivered by experienced trainers from twofour54, followed by two-month internships in a number of media companies and organisations in the country.

Commenting on the announcement, Amal Al Kooheji, Tamkeen’s Chief Operating officer, said:” Tamkeen works on supporting Bahraini’s individuals to achieve their goals in various key sectors in Bahrain, amongst which is the graphic design training programme, which proved its effectiveness year after year, as the some of the past graduates of the programme managed to secure permanent positions with notable media companies, while others went on freelance basis.”

The programme aims to empower a group of passionate media enthusiasts to achieve their ambitions by instilling specialised knowledge and skills that are needed to enter the labour market. In addition, the programme serves as an excellent gateway for Bahraini talent to start a successful career within the media field and to become contributors in building a strong creative foundation locally and regionally.”
