Safe and Sound's 'Pink Book Sale' brings back Reading Bargains at BurJuman

The ‘Pink Book Sale’ returned to BurJuman on Friday, October 7, turning the mall into a reading haven for book lovers and supporters as part of the annual Safe and Sound calendar of events, commemorating October as the international breast cancer awareness month.

Avid readers lined up to grab their favourite titles at the charitable sale organized on a regular basis by Safe and Sound, one of the region’s largest, most extensive breast cancer awareness campaigns. People of all ages and backgrounds flooded the mall to hunt for some real bargains whilst supporting the campaign’s aim to raise awareness on breast cancer and early detection as the main contributor for survival. Most readers were on the look-out for some exciting fiction, and many took home stacks of new reading material which had been previously graciously donated by Individuals and corporations throughout the summer.

Funds collected by Safe & Sound ‘Pink Book Sale’ will be donated entirely towards the Safe and Sound Campaign and utilized towards providing free check-ups and mammograms, supporting patient care, extending the educational outreach and raising awareness for the cause. All fund collection and usage is monitored by Red Crescent.

In its fifteenth consecutive year since it was first launched, BurJuman’s non-profit campaign has once again teamed up with a number of organizations in order to generate the furthest outreach possible. Partners for the 2011 campaign include Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), ADCB, Amber Clinics, Del Monte and UniCare Medical Centre.
