The Royal Jordanian booth at the 37th international Madrid tourism trade fair FITUR was the focus of a large number of visitors, particularly with the presence of Samuel García, the Spanish professional football player who recently joined C.D. Leganés team.

FITUR, which is a global meeting point for tourism professionals, was held at the Ifema trade fair centre in Madrid between January 18 and 22, 2016.

The fair attracted a vast number of media and journalists who attended the press conference, which was held at RJ’s booth and widely covered in many important media channels, newspapers and newswires in Spain.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lina Annab addressed the media in the presence of Jordan's Ambassador to Spain Ghassan Majali, Director General  of Jordan Tourism Board  Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat  and Samuel García who recently joined the C.D. Leganés team that RJ is now sponsoring as "Official Airline Partner" for the remainder of the 2016/2017 La Liga football season.

The minister praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the other entities that work to promote Jordan, among them the kingdom's national carrier, Royal Jordanian.

She underlined the positive promotional effect sponsoring the football team has; C.D.Leganés' members are now wearing shirts that show the RJ logo and brand name to all La Liga fans.

Annab added: “Tourism is the business of building peace and bridges between cultures. There is no better bridge than having sports as means of cultural dialogue between people of different nations."

Majali wished RJ and C.D. Leganés a fruitful partnership and further cooperation in the future, stressing that that this is bound to boost Jordan’s presence among European tourists as a unique tourist destination and a hospitable country.

He also congratulated Samuel García for joining C.D. Leganés team members.

RJ representatives at the booth welcomed a large number of visitors who received information about traveling and/or transiting via Amman to the countries RJ serves, and about the benefits of flying RJ and its oneworld partners.

A raffle was conducted, with winners receiving various prizes, including tickets between Madrid and Amman.

RJ has been participating annually in FITUR since the fair’s establishment in 1980.

The airline has been promoting tourism to Jordan and introduced the country’s culture and identity to the world. This has been an integral part of the mission of RJ, which is the national carrier and Jordan’s goodwill ambassador that has always striven to be up to the great appreciation the country enjoys worldwide.
