Registration Now Open for Collaborative Executive Course with QF Entities Georgetown and HBKU
Georgetown University in Qatar and HBKU’s College of Public Policy, in conjunction with the HBKU Executive Education Center, are offering a “What Works? Program Evaluation Techniques for Policy Managers” course to drive improvements around efficiency and outcomes. GU-Q, a QF partner institution, is also offering an Executive Education Certificate Course on “Negotiation and Persuasion” that will give working professionals a competitive edge in workplace communication.
Combining the expertise and resources of two of Qatar’s leading educational institutions, the 2-day evaluation course will run March 21-22, and is aimed at managers who supervise staff engaged in program evaluation activities, professionals who advise policymakers, and analysts at research organizations, government agencies, and nonprofits who seek to develop a more rigorous understanding of program evaluation techniques.
Rodolph Boughaba, the Associate Dean for Executive Education at GU-Q, says “The policy process is increasingly data-driven, but a clear understanding of how to evaluate that data is required to reap the benefits, and this is what our course will provide.”
Now open for registration, the course will be taught by Dr. Adam Thomas, who teaches courses in quantitative methods and microeconomics at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy in Washington, DC, and Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Associate Professor at HBKU College of Public Policy.
A second course, held by GU-Q from March 15-18, offers professionals a certificate in “Negotiation and Persuasion.” Participants will learn the fundamentals of negotiation, while developing interpersonal techniques and tactics for effectively influencing people. “Negotiation skills are critical in workplaces across all sectors because we engage in negotiations practically every day through interactions with colleagues and clients,” explains Boughaba.
Utilizing the latest research in negotiation and conflict resolution, this course, will expand participants’ abilities to more productively approach interpersonal interactions that may cause anxiety or discomfort. It’s taught by Dr. David Emmanuel Gray, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at GU-Q. Dr. Gray brings with him over ten years experience teaching courses and delivering talks on negotiation and conflict resolution in Qatar.
Registration deadlines are March 20 for the evaluation course and March 14 for the negotiation course, and applications can be made through the GU-Q website.
