QF's akhlaquna awards ceremony to recognize local change makers

Qatar Foundation will host its annual Akhlaquna and Akhlaquna Junior awards ceremony on Wednesday 17 May, recognizing the winners of this year’s cycle who exemplify great moral character and have initiated projects that serve the community and beyond.

Two new awards will be given out at this year’s ceremony – the Best Initiative Award and the Role Model Award. These have been added to expand the reach and impact of the program, recognizing individuals who have made noteworthy contributions and serve as inspirational role models in their communities.

Additionally, an interactive exhibition on 18 May at Qatar National Library in Education City – running from 9am-3pm – will showcase the projects and initiatives created by this year’s participants.

Ahmed Yousef Al-Malki, ‪Project Manager Akhlaquna, joined the Akhlaquna team this year due to his belief in the importance of uplifting society. He explained how the initiative aims to highlight Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) universal and inclusive moral values.

“I belief that this award honors individuals who are active within society and are capable of offering invaluable contributions to various institutes, like schools or universities,” said Al-Malki.

“I am confident in their ability to develop and grow their initiatives in a positive manner. Their projects possess a distinctiveness that will undoubtedly contribute to raising awareness of moral values within society.

“The exhibition accompanying the event, new this year, will showcase various ethical initiatives and community contributions in Qatar. And I’d like to invite the whole community to visit the space in Education City, where they can immerse themselves in an array of rich performances and meaningful storytelling activities.”

Speaking about the new categories introduced this year, Al-Malki said: “The Akhlaquna team strives tirelessly to promote awareness of moral values through the award, and we are determined to continue growing this initiative, to implement additional programs and projects that contribute to society.”

The Akhlaquna award was introduced in 2017, by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation. The initiative aims to showcase that knowledge and morality are intertwined, and it honors young people who embody morals, values, and ethical behaviors. Akhlaquna Junior is open to children aged 7 to 14.
