This year, QF partner Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is inviting prospective undergraduate students to explore their future education virtually through “Discover Georgetown” a 3-component open house series that will be held on October 28, November 11, and November 25, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

GU-Q’s open house event is hosted by current students, faculty, and staff, and open to high school juniors, seniors, university transfer students, and their families.

In the first session, students will have the chance to learn about financial aid and funding questions, and gain a step-by-step understanding of the GU-Q admissions application process.

The second session will answer the question “What Will You Study at GU-Q?” including an overview of Georgetown’s renowned Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) degree, which offers majors in International Politics, International Economics, International History, and Culture and Politics.

The third and final session will provide an overview of the diverse career paths available with a degree in foreign service, and a presentation of the many resources, school clubs, and activities that create the university’s unique student experience in Education City.

Joseph Hernandez, Director of Admissions, expressed GU-Q’s commitment to providing students and their families all the support they need to make an informed decision about their future college plans, and overcoming the disruptions of the pandemic,  “Traditionally, the Discover Georgetown event occurs over the course of an evening. This year, we have moved towards a model of three Discover Georgetown virtual events in order to best address students’ needs in a shorter span of time, all while keeping our signature introductions to admissions, curriculum, student life and careers.”

While the transition can be a stressful and uncertain time, he explained, “This is also an exciting experience, where students have a chance to imagine themselves at Georgetown to decide if this is the place they want to spend the next four years of their lives. The future opportunities and possibilities we present are a crucial step that helps students identify the right program and build towards a successful career.”
To attend, interested participants can register at https://admissions.qatar.sfs.georgetown.edu/portal/discovergeorgetown prior to the event. Beyond the annual open house, the university also offers weekly Admissions Hours, where prospective students can meet admissions representatives to learn more about GU-Q programs and the admissions process.
