QF Launches Goals Exhibition Showcasing Life in Qatar in Lead up to World Cup

Qatar Foundation is bringing the journey of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ to life – as experienced by people from across the country – in a multidisciplinary exhibition titled GOALS, which opened today at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar and is set to run until December 10.
The exhibition, in Education City, serves as a platform for people to share their unique experiences of living, working, and studying in Qatar in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup™, and demonstrates how football can serve as a catalyst for change.
The storytellers – a diverse group of people such as students, artists, and football coaches – have shared their stories through a variety of mediums, including photography, written copy, spoken word, and video.
“GOALS puts its storytellers at the heart of the exhibition,” said Brooke Reid, Manager of Engagement and Activation at Education City, Qatar Foundation (QF). “This program, which kicked off last year, has given more than 40 storytellers a platform to share their experiences of being in Qatar in the lead up to the World Cup.
“And with it being open to the public, it is also a great opportunity for people to visit Education City during the World Cup.”
Mehreen Fazal, a GOALS contributor, tells the story of her football journey – including volunteering with refugees at the Afghan compound and the changes she sees taking place in Qatar – through photographs.
“Qatar 2022 will send a strong message that football belongs to the world, that there is no ‘us’ and ‘them’ in football and that we are all much more similar than we are different,” she said.
GOALS is delivered by QF in partnership with Generation Amazing Foundation, Goal Click, and The Sports Creative, and is sponsored by Salam Stores.
The exhibition is being held in Saffron Hall in Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, a QF partner university, and is open to the public daily from 10am-4pm.
