The D'reesha Performing Arts Festival is set to return to Education City this December, and Qatar Foundation is inviting aspiring artists from across the country to register as performers – so they can share their voices, talents, and stories, and unlock their creative potential.

Taking place during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, from December 11-18, the theme of the festival this year is ‘Travel and Adventure’, and – promoting, preserving, and celebrating the identity and spirit of the Arab world – it will combine tradition and modernity for a unique educational experience.

The festival will showcase a variety of performances, including music, poetry, visual arts, and theater, with acts taking place in both English and Arabic. Performances can be individual or as part of a wider group.

Ameera Al Aji, Community Arts Lead at Qatar Foundation, said: “The D’reesha Performing Arts Festival this year was designed from the heart to proudly showcase our heritage and our Arabic history.

“In it, we speak to our global audience in one language, which is the language of travel, to reflect the importance of experiences and values that people acquire from travel – especially in conjunction with the World Cup – as we open the horizons of Arab and local creativity.

“I hope that all the creative people in our local and international communities will join us for D’reesha, in its second edition, in December 2022 at Oxygen Park in Education City.”

A new addition to this year’s event is D’reesha of Invention and Innovation, which – focusing on STEM and by sponsored by ConocoPhillips – will highlight scientists, scholars, and researchers from the Arab world. Visitors to the festival will be given the opportunity to attend talks, conduct experiments, and participate in hands-on workshops, learning about inventions and contributions from around the region.
