As part of an ongoing series, "Inspiring Individuals,” Qatar National Library hosted a talk by Qatari artist, Hamad Al-Mataw’ah, on 27 June.

Young adults learned about the inspirational life experience of the talented artist who was born color blind, but has gone on to become one of Qatar’s most popular cartoonists.

Hamad’s art is also a medium to represent aspects of Qatar’s culture and identity, as well as social and political issues, most recently the blockade on Qatar. He is a recognizable talent in Qatar’s visual art community, participating in exhibitions such as ‘Colour Bar’ and ‘Al Ezz and Al Khair’ at Katara, where his work reflects his artistic talent for classic cartoon characters.

Attending the event, Abulrahman Hilal, said: “The Library is giving us the perfect opportunity to learn and be inspired. I often come here to attend events, read books, and meet my friends and relatives. Today’s event, for example, shows the value of this place in helping people meet passionate youth from Qatar.”
