Qatar Green Building Council hosts Greater London Authority’s Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy

Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), recently hosted Mr Matthew Pencharz, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy, Greater London Authority.

Hosted at the QGBC headquarters, the networking event was aimed at creating synergies between the two organisations and getting acquainted with the array of sustainability and green building programmes that QGBC is currently undertaking. The event was attended by senior members from both organisations.

Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, Director of QGBC, said: “Creating meaningful collaborations with our international partners is a key tenet in our approach to bringing in innovative ideas and applying them here in Qatar within our ongoing projects. Today’s visit was beneficial in multiple ways. This gathering provided us with a valuable chance to share our expertise and knowledge from the fields of green building and sustainability with one another. We look forward to working with Mr Pencharz’s team in the future.”

QGBC has been working with a wide range of regional and international partners to initiate critical conversations on key sustainability challenges that Qatar and the region in large face. Some of these partners include the Green Building Council’s Network in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the World Green Building Council (WGBC), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), Building Research Establishment (BRE), the Middle East Facility Management Association (MEFMA), and Engineers of Australia in Qatar.
