As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, PepsiCo-Jordan sponsored the Grassroots Festival organized by the Jordan Football Association (JFA) on Saturday 13 May, 2017, at the Polo Field of Al Hussein Youth City. This step reaffirmed the Company’s commitment to supporting sports, particularly football, under its strategic partnership with the JFA, whereby it sponsors the Association’s various activities and events throughout the year.

The festival convened a large number of promising players and their coaches from various Prince Ali Centers across the Kingdom. The day’s events commenced with the national anthem, followed by a recitation of Surat Al Fatiha in memory of the late Captain Khaled Awad. The festival included many sports and recreational activities, which encouraged sportsmanship and honest competition among players while also helping to refine and develop their skills. At the end of the event, awards were distributed to players and coaches and a group photograph was taken.

“Our sponsorship of the Grassroots Festival reflects our keenness to support the various football-related events that take place in Jordan, thereby underlining our fruitful, eight-year partnership with the JFA. This sponsorship enhanced PepsiCo-Jordan’s support of local communities as well as its standing as a responsible national institution that seeks to encourage members of the local society to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Through such events, we aim to develop and refine our youth’s talents to elevate Jordanian football both locally and internationally,” commented PepsiCo-Jordan’s General Manager, Eng. Nidal Hamam.

Background Information

Pepsi Cola International

In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.

For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
