PepsiCo-Jordan launches ‘Healthy Living Football Championship’
As part of its efforts to support the local sports scene, particularly football, PepsiCo-Jordan launched the ‘Healthy Living Football Championship’, a staff tournament that covers the Company’s various locations. The Healthy Living Football Championship is being held between 8 November and 5 December, 2014, at the Oxford Schools stadiums in Amman.
The opening match of the tournament - held annually under the staff program ‘Healthy Living’ - kicked off on Saturday 8 November, 2014. Inaugurated by Mohannad Mahadeen, Director of Marketing and Communications at Jordan Football Association (JFA), the opening match was supervised by a JFA judging committee.
Each participating team comprises eight players, three of whom are substitutes. All teams compete during preliminary rounds, with losing teams disqualifying from the tournament. The judging committee will shortlist the 18 participating teams based on an elimination process that will continue towards the finals, with losing teams disqualifying immediately. The 60-minute match is divided into two halves of 30 minutes each, at a rate of four matches per week, twice per day. PepsiCo-Jordan will be offering multiple prizes to the best goalkeeper and best striker, in addition to valuable prizes to the top three teams.
“Launching the Healthy Living Football Championship is closely aligned with our efforts to encourage our employees to lead healthy lifestyles by exercising frequently amidst a fun and competitive environment. The Championship also aims to support athletic and football talents, as well as provide employees with a break from their daily routines and enable them to get back to work with renewed enthusiasm. Our employees are the cornerstone of our success, hence we constantly strive to create a comfortable and productive work environment that promotes team spirit and camaraderie,” commented Nidal Hamam, General Manager of PepsiCo-Jordan.

Pepsi Cola International
In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.
For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
