Orange Jordan Kicks off Girls in ICT Hackathon

Orange Jordan launched Girls in ICT Hackathon, at the Coding School on May 11th to build the females’ skills in developing mobile applications. The initiative coincided with International Girls in ICT Day that the world observes on April, 25th every year.
Themed “Leadership”, the occasion was aimed at promoting the involvement of more girls and females in the ICT sector more effectively and enabling them to be part of the decision-making process. Despite the fact that women occupy 40% of highly skilled jobs globally, their participation in ICT-related arenas remains low, requiring extra efforts from all parties.
Orange Jordan works in harmony with this global vision as it strives to digitally empower females and enabling them to play an essential role in the global AI revolution. In this context, the hackathon came to target females this year to enhance their skills in AI, developing mobile applications and programming languages.
Orange Jordan encouraged all females aged between 18 and 22 years from all over Jordan to apply to participate in the hackathon which serves as a creative space where girls can explore new horizons, and unleash their full potential.
The Hackathon enabled them to utilize artificial intelligence techniques in their mobile applications projects, after participating in a training to use the App Inventor which facilitates the implementation process.
It is worth mentioning that registration was open to all females throughout Jordan to join the hackathon and play a more effective role in the digital revolution.
