Skywards thanks a million raffle drawing at Dubai world cup
Skywards, Emirates award-winning Frequent Flyer programme, is again offering a top prize of one million Skywards Miles in its 12th annual Thanks a Million draw at the Dubai World Cup on Saturday, 31st March 2012. Funds raised will go to three charities: Senses, the Red Crescent, and the UN World Food Programme (WFP).
The lucky grand prize winner, the Skywards Millionaire, can use their Miles for a trip for two around the world or could instead book 22 return Emirates tickets to Europe, or 19 to the Far East from Dubai. Additionally, the first runner-up will win 500,000 Miles enough for 12 return tickets to Europe, and the second runner-up will win 250,000 Miles (enough for six return tickets to Europe).
Selling out fast, if not yet purchased online via Cobone or at Virgin Megastores retail outlets, raffle tickets, priced at just Dhs20 each, are still available through volunteers with Youth In Action, at the Meydan Ticket Sales Centre from 18 to 28 March and from the 100 volunteers at the Meydan Racecourse at the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse racing event to be held on 31 March.
“Emirates Airline is one of WFP’s most prominent partners in the region and we are thrilled to be a beneficiary of their Skywards charity raffle this year again,” said Ashraf Hamouda, WFP Head of Partnership and Business Development for the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. “We are also grateful to the support extended by our partners Cobone, Virgin and Youth In Action, as each of the tickets they will help sell comes with the promise of eight nutritious meals served to the hungry somewhere in the world.”
As an added outlet for charitable action at the Dubai World Cup, Skywards has joined with ‘Whatever It Takes,’ a unique artwork campaign that allows people to purchase items signed or designed by their favourite actors, celebrities, leaders and idols. Proceeds from the sales go towards the 21st Century Leaders Foundation which supports global development causes including poverty alleviation, environmental conservation and the protection of children.
Now in its 12th year, the Skywards Thanks a Million draw has raised over Dhs 2 million for various charities such as Riding for the Disabled Association of Dubai (RDAD), UNICEF, UAE Red Crescent and Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre. The Winner of the Million Skywards Miles join an elite club of less than 200 Skywards Members with over one million miles out of a total of six million members worldwide.
