Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026 Welcomes Nizwa's Gaming Generation

For years, they played at home. Late nights, fast reflexes, group chats at midnight. Behind every player was a household that made it possible, with the right broadband and the decision to invest in it. Now, Ooredoo is investing in youth talent, transforming everyday gaming at home into a national stage through Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026, Oman’s first multi-city e-sports tournament.

For the first time, at Nizwa Grand Mall, three local teams were crowned regional champions of the Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026. BOOMX in Call of Duty Black Ops 7, Nova Esports in Valorant and Dolby in League of Legends.

Each winner earned their place at the Grand Final in Muscat from 21–23 May 2026. They were awarded OMR 500 and a one-year Ooredoo Home Broadband subscription, recognising that every competitive player is supported by a household that makes high-performance gaming possible.

Their journey began just days earlier, in online qualifiers held from 27–29 March, leading to the live final in Nizwa. The event attracted many E-Sport enthusiasts  who showed up to watch 20 young gamers who have spent years building their skills in the background. In front of a home crowd, familiar usernames became real faces as they stepped into the spotlight, and a city not normally associated with competitive gaming produced three regional champions.

Speaking on the milestone, Jaffar Khamis Al Khaburi, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo Oman, said:

"We congratulate the winners from Nizwa on an impressive performance. What we saw here reflects a generation of young Omanis who have taken gaming seriously long before anyone built a national competition around it. Watching those players compete in their own city, in front of their own community is exactly why we created this tournament.”

Nizwa set the tone for this new generation of Omani gamers where competing players are now getting ready to represent their city. A one-year Ooredoo Home Broadband subscription supports that journey, giving them the connectivity to train and arrive at the Grand Final in May 2026 ready to compete.

Behind the scenes, every match runs on Ooredoo's network, recognised by Ookla for delivering the Best 5G Gaming Experience Award in Q3 - Q4 2025. From Nizwa to the final stage, players experience the same high-performance, low-latency connectivity. Online qualifiers were completed without a single reported issue.

The Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026 is presented by Ooredoo in partnership with Oman Broadband and spans multiple cities around Oman. With the Nizwa champions now confirmed, the tournament builds momentum as it moves to Sohar, continuing the journey towards Muscat. Here competitors will vie for a top prize of OMR 1,000 per game title and national recognition in Oman’s fast-growing E-Sports scene.

Ooredoo extends its sincere thanks to the Omani Gaming and eSports Committee and Maqam Company, and everyone who contributed to ensure that this championship is presented to meet the requirements of the Omani talented youth.

Registrations for the Sohar Qualifiers are open now, with online rounds running from 16th to 18th April. Players can sign up at Ooredoo: go.ooredoo.om/gaming/en/
