Ooredoo Continues to Nurture the Potential of Children with Disabilities

Committed to enriching the lives of people across the Sultanate, Ooredoo has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Early Intervention Center for Children with Disabilities to help children with developmental challenges. The MoU enables Ooredoo to upgrade sensory rooms at the Center’s new building. The upgrades will benefit children’s learning and cognitive development by equipping the special rooms with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and devices. Amaal Al Lawati, Chief People Officer at Ooredoo, and the Honorary Sabah bint Mohammed Al Bahlani, Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Early Intervention for Disabled Children, signed the agreement.
The initiative falls under Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, ‘Goodwill’. Amaal Al Lawati, said, “We aim to support initiatives that have a positive and measurable impact on our communities. Since the launch of Ooredoo’s Goodwill Programme, we have focused on giving back to Omani society. Through our partnership with the Association of Early Intervention Center for Children with Disabilities, our goal is to provide children with the necessary educational tools to nurture them into becoming everything they aspire to be and reach their full potential.”
Ooredoo continues to collaborate with various organisations to deliver its message of 'caring' and translating it into reality. A total of seven sensory rooms in social welfare centres across the Sultanate have already been created, with more planned in the near future. Through Ooredoo Goodwill, the company also visits various charities, enabling Omani women to start their own businesses and providing basic educational materials to aid in nurturing future makers. The pioneering telecommunications company won a Gold award for Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year in the Middle East and Africa 2021 International Business Awards, also known as the Stevies. The award specifically recognised its Sensory room’s initiative. The company was also awarded for its prominent role in supporting people who are in need during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said bin Ali Baawain, Minister of Labour.
