Ooredoo Kuwait, the fastest network in Kuwait for 2016, concluded the performances of Iftah Ya Simsim in celebration of Eid al-Adha. The play is the Arabic version of the beloved American children’s program, Sesame Street. It was staged for three consecutive days in the Ice Skating Rink Theater in Kuwait City – Soor Street.

This production follows the revival of Iftah Ya Simsim, the beloved children’s program which was first introduced in the 1970’s by the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Joint Program Production Institution. The original program featured a star-studded cast of Arab performers and actors at the time.

Commenting on this sponsorship, Ooredoo Kuwait’s Senior Director of Corporate Communications Mijbil Alayoub said: “We’re very happy to partner with EventMania to introduce the beloved characters of Iftah Ya Simsim, with the values they promote, to this generation. This play delivers such valuable lessons, and is in alignment with our core values and strategy at Ooredoo Kuwait.

Caring and connecting

Ooredoo organized a special performance on the first day of Eid dedicated entirely to its VIP guests. The guests included social media influencers, VIP clients, in addition to Ooredoo employees and their families. Alayoub noted: “We’re always keen on sharing with our employees to show our appreciation for their efforts. They are certainly part of our success, and this stems from our deep-rooted belief in caring and connecting.”

Sharing the joy

Sharing the celebratory spirit, Ooredoo visited children’s wards in several hospitals accompanied by characters from the play to distribute gifts and free tickets to the play’s special premiere night. The visit was conducted in cooperation with the Kuwait Association for Care of Children in Hospitals (KACCH).

Big attendance

More than 10 thousand visitors attended the play’s nine performances which were held over the course of three consecutive days, starting from the second day of Eid. Tickets were on sale in Ooredoo’s branches in the Avenues Mall, 360 Mall, and the Gate Mall. Ooredoo customers were all eligible for a discount on all platinum and gold tickets.

The play aims to instill a number of values in kids, such as caring for the environment, recycling, conserving water and electricity, following the traffic laws, in addition to introducing them to a number of vocations and jobs. The play also teaches healthy habits, respect for parents and the elderly, and includes segments about numbers and letters and colors.

The play is directed by young Saudi theater director Yasser Al-Madkhali, in cooperation with Headline Productions.
