Oman Oil Company honours graduates of the ‘Training for Employment’ programme

With its commitment to investing for the future of Oman, and under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Muna Bint Salim Al Jardani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, Oman Oil Company (OOC) joined Oman Society of Petroleum Services (OPAL) in congratulating 47 graduates who successfully completed the ‘Training for Employment’ programme’. Concluding its third year, the programme develops Omani youth skills and talents to create competent employees for prospective employers.

With an array of professional recognised certifications designed to help the students enter the job market and guarantee a solid career path, three teams were paired with mentors at local training institutes in a six month training programme.

“It is an honour to announce the third graduating class for the ‘Training for Employment’ programme,” said Mulham Al Jarf, Deputy CEO of OOC. “As a major player in creating business leaders in Oman, our partnership with OPAL has proven to be one of the most beneficial relationships that directly impacts the community. Upon successful completion of the training and with support from both public and private sectors, our graduates will be placed directly into employment. We are confident they will act as catalysts for development and a great example of dedication, hard work and commitment to advancing their careers and ultimately the future of Oman. As of December 2013, 150 Omani students successfully completed eight ‘Training for Employment’ programmes,” added Al Jarf.

On his part, Irshad Al Lawati, Chief Executive Officer, of Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), stressed the importance of training and its significant impact on the development of organisations, maintaining high quality, and improving productivity.  He also highlighted the importance of investing in national Human Resources as the real capital. 

Al Lawati conveyed his thanks and appreciation to all those who supported the development of the national manpower and contributed to the success of the ‘Training for Employment’ programme in question. He expressed his special thanks to the Management of Oman Oil Company for their commitment, dedication and contributions towards training and employment of Omanis.

This initiative is in line with Oman Oil Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda of sustainable growth targeting sustainable programmes that benefit the community. The focus areas of the CSR programmes include training job seekers for employment, promoting and supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as building capacity.
