Oman Oil Marketing Company observe World Day of Health & Safety

Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) observed ‘World Day for Safety & Health at Work’ by launching a series of internal workshops to continue building a corporate culture of prevention on occupational safety hazards. With safe practices at the heart of its business, omanoil specially designed workshops that introduced emerging trends in the field of occupational safety, while shedding light on the magnitude of work related injuries, in an aim to reinforce the proactive behavior of its staff.
“We are committed to adopting international best practices while upholding the highest levels of health and safety for our employees,” said Engr. Mohammed Al Mujaini, omanoil’s Senior Manager of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE). “This day, declared by the International Labor Organization, reminds us that we cannot become complacent, and that health and safety is a philosophy that is strengthened through action. Our HSSE programs focus on four basic steps: plan, do, check and evaluate. This guides employees to the preventative line of action that needs to be taken in any given situation, while also giving them the opportunity to improve our tried and tested procedures with a zero-tolerance for accidents.”
omanoil’s corporate culture is underpinned with a commitment to HSSE and has resulted in achievements that notably include a milestone 22 years without lost time injury at the JV Mina Al Fahal Terminal. Encouraging a sense of responsibility amongst its employees, omanoil has distributed HSSE Passports for staff to track their individual developments by ticking off essential training workshops they have completed. An HSSE awards scheme was also launched to motivate employees at all levels of the organization to proactively engage in health and safety challenges and opportunities to formulate preventative measures. omanoil will continuously update its HSSE policies to keep up to par with international standards, and promote the advancement of safety benchmarks within the company and the industry.
