Nuqul Group reveals sustainability accomplishments and publishes its most recent report

For the 4th consecutive year and in continuation of its support to the UN Global Compact initiative, Nuqul Group has recently published its sustainability report to cover the main areas of sustainable growth reaching all stakeholders in the areas of its operational presence. The report is assured independently by the School of Resource Engineering and Management at the German Jordanian University based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) report content parameters.
Chief Executive Officer, Salim Karadsheh commented: “Adopting sustainability is not a choice that we have recently made; it has been the direction of our Founder and has grown ever since to become our main driver. In 2011 we made a strategic decision to integrate sustainability into our organizational structure, so as to systemize all our sustainability efforts under one umbrella and to create a sustainable corporate culture among all our employees.”
Director of Operations Support at Nuqul Group, Dr. Tareq Abu Ghazaleh stated: “As we have established the baseline for sustainability performance in Nuqul Group, we are looking forward towards achieving effective improvements. We believe that inspiring our taskforce with sustainability will result in a chain reaction, and the impact will travel up the pyramid to positively influence our operations, push our overall performance towards more sustainable levels, transform our products and eventually encourage our customers and consumers, to adopt a sustainable style of living and thus contributing to the sustainable growth for the communities where we operate.”
In 2011 Nuqul Group witnessed several success stories such as providing funding for its micro venture fund in the adopted Al Koura District, commissioning a first of a kind life cycle assessment in the region for two of its products, and winning prestigious awards such as the Aon Hewitt “Best Employer Middle East”, and the “Seal of Excellence Stamp” by the King Abdullah II Award of Excellence. Through energy and water efficiency measures, the Group set resource efficiency targets for products across all of its business units. At Nuqul Tissue facilities, the water consumption per ton of tissue was reduced by almost 50% of the global industry average, without compromising the quality of products. Moreover, the Elia Nuqul Foundation granted 46 scholarships during that year.
