PepsiCo International announced the appointment of Eng. Nidal Hamam as the new General Manager of PepsiCo-Jordan - winner of the 2009 & 2010 King Abdullah II Award for Excellence. Hamam succeeds Mr. Ahmed El Sheikh, who will be taking on his new responsibilities as VP of Beverage Operations in KSA & Yemen. This step is an extension of Hamam’s longstanding career at Pepsico International, where he previously assumed a number of distinguished managerial posts and achieved numerous accomplishments within the Company.

These managerial decisions stem from PepsiCo International’s interest to continue to enhance work efficiency and provide professional development opportunities that bring forth leadership talents across the Company.

“I am very pleased to be assuming my new responsibilities as General Manager. Through my new position I will be able to carry forward PepsiCo-Jordan’s longstanding history in contributing to the economy, community and society at large. I am very eager to build on the Company’s repertoire of successes and maintain its pioneering position at the helm of the Jordanian market and as an active contributor to the development of our national economy,” commented Hamam.

Hamam joined PepsiCo-Jordan in January 1997 as Operations Director after working with Procter & Gamble for nine years in Saudi Arabia. In 2004, Hamam assumed the position of Operations Manager for the Levant Franchise Markets (Lebanon, Syria and Iraq). He led the start-up of the Company’s Beverage Plant in Northern Iraq and helped the Syria operations achieve unprecedented quality scores, after which he returned to lead operations in Jordan in 2008. In 2011, Hamam took over his current dual responsibilities of managing PepsiCo-Jordan’s operations and sales where he played a pivotal role in improving the Company’s execution level in the local market and bolstered productivity levels.

Under Hamam’s leadership, PepsiCo-Jordan has been recognized on a number of occasions for its quality, sustainability and excellence. The Company earned the Quality Excellence recognition for three consecutive years, was named the AIB top scorer for Beverage Plants in the region in the field of food safety and won the AMEA PwP Award for Environmental Sustainability in 2010 for Water and Energy consumption reduction. Hamam holds a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Jordan.

Background Information

Pepsi Cola International

In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.

For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
