Continuing with its ascendance in the global mobile phone market, HUAWEI is now the driving force in technological innovation, with hardware and phone designs that have drawn widespread acclaim, and now serve as the gold standard in the industry.

In 2007, Apple launched the first iPhone, which turned the very notion of what a smartphone should be, on its head. Nonetheless, twelve years later Apple's market share has continued to decline, falling to 13.0%, according to IDC data from Q3 in 2019, behind both Samsung and Huawei. Samsung’s position is long-established, but Huawei’s ascendance has been a trend-setter for the industry to achieve new technology milestones. One of Huawei’s landmark achievements was the arrival of the 5G era. As of Q3 2019, Huawei’s market share continued to soar reaching 14.6% according to IDC data.

In recent years, Huawei has turned its focus to developing the software to match its other capabilities, and with great success. Huawei’s EMUI is not just aesthetically pleasing at the surface level; it also incorporates next-level technologies, such as GPU Turbo, from the bottom layer, revolutionizing the entire conception of a mobile operating system.

In EMUI 10, released earlier this year, Huawei may have crafted its magnum opus: a lush, seamless interface that is responsive to the user’s every whim, with lifelike motion, and icons. Or in other words, a parallel universe, in which the user sets the terms. Unsurprisingly, both EMUI 10 and the distinctive Huawei mobile phone designs, have been lauded for their highly-realistic, but aspirational futurism.

The operating system has always been at the core of smartphone innovation, as it serves as the medium through which the user will interact with new technologies. In 2019, EMUI implemented its own Dark modes, to address vision strain that is associated with extended daily use, a persistent issue in modern life. The Dark mode in EMUI 10 involves a highly intricate process that required extensive research.

Earlier in September Huawei launched its flagship Mate30 series, inspired by the design principle of minimalism, the models came equipped with EMUI 10. The HUAWEI Mate30 Pro, showcases the perfect example of how aesthetic design fuses with technology and hosts the latest HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS). Setting new standards in every area from aesthetic design to hardware engineering and software innovation, the king of smartphones has received several accolades globally. Known as the pinnacle of mobile technological development, the HUAWEI Mate30 Pro comes with HUAWEI EMUI 10, which uses different open source codes, including the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The new device does not pre-install Google Mobile Services, and users will be able to download and enjoy the applications from the HUAWEI AppGallery preinstalled in the device.

In 2018, Huawei established the Human Factors Research Laboratory, with the goal of enhancing interface design and the user experience, by applying principles from psychology, physiology, ergonomics, and related fields. The lab conducted a rigorous battery of tests for reading efficiency, and the subjective reading experience, in four common daily lighting environments to find the ideal color contrast range for text and icons. These insights were then applied to furnish both Huawei-developed and third-party apps with optimal visual effects, through an advanced color algorithm, intelligent GUI element identification, and meticulous color calibration technology.

HUAWEI EMUI10 represents an enormous upgrade over its predecessor EMUI 9.1. Leveraging the enormous body of knowledge gleaned from human factors research, the system integrates touch, sight, and psychology into a cohesive whole. Touch operations are instantly responsive and provide a highly-gratifying sense of elastic springiness. Precisely-controlled page transitions strike the perfect balance, both ensuring that users are spared the sinking sensation of a sudden jump, as well as the annoyance of an awkward delay. EMUI 10 simulates the effects of gravity in the real world, by providing return operations precisely match the direction, speed, and release of the user's motion.
