NBB Unveils a Completely New App Featuring ‘Pockets,’ a Goal-Driven Savings Tool
The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has introduced a completely new experience of its Digital Banking App, centred on making everyday banking more intuitive and user-friendly. The latest release also launches ‘Pockets,’ a goal-based savings feature now available to all customers.
The redesigned app delivers a significantly improved experience, built through extensive journey mapping, focus group insights, and benchmarking against leading regional and global platforms. With an enhanced dashboard, users can view account information more clearly, access frequently used services with fewer steps, and complete daily transactions through a smoother mobile-first journey.
With Pockets, customers can easily create dedicated savings spaces within the app, each aligned to a specific financial goal – whether for travel, education, emergencies, or major purchases. This supports smarter financial planning through structured savings and better budgeting, allowing users to allocate funds with intent and track their progress in real time. By separating savings from everyday spending, Pockets encourages more disciplined money management. Additionally, the introduction of incentives and gamification elements makes saving more engaging and rewarding, helping users build consistent, goal-driven habits over time.
The update also brings an enhanced Thara’a experience, with a dedicated space to view available prizes, previous winners, and a live countdown to the next draw. Meanwhile, a new secure in app password change feature allows customers to instantly update their password without having to log out, ensuring a Frictionless secure digital experience.
Commenting on the occasion, Subah Abdullatif Al Zayani, Chief Executive – Retail Banking at NBB, said, “With the enhanced user experience on the NBB App and the introduction of Pockets, we are giving customers more intuitive ways to plan and manage their finances. The feature is designed to help customers move beyond tracking spend to planning ahead with greater ease and intention, making saving more structured, accessible, and rewarding.”
For his part, Omar Al Adhami, Head of Retail Digital Banking at NBB, added, “The new app is built on customer feedback to make key services faster and easier to access, offering a simpler digital banking experience that helps make everyday financial management easier. From organising savings through Pockets to tracking Thara’a prize draws, we are bringing banking closer to our customers while continuing to make it more intuitive, useful, and aligned with their needs.”
The new app forms part of NBB’s broader digital transformation roadmap, which aims to continuously enhance how individuals and businesses engage with its banking services. From solutions such as the Yalla Family Account to digital loan top-ups and NBB GO SoftPOS, each innovation is designed to deliver greater value across every touchpoint and customer segment.
Customers can explore the new digital banking experience and start using the enhanced Pockets feature by downloading or updating the NBB App via the App Store or Google Play Store.
