Nawras family gathers in Muscat for annual All Hands event

Nawras recently held its pleasingly different annual ‘All Hands’ family gathering in Muscat to celebrate eight years of successful operation and reaffirm its unwavering dedication to providing a rewarding customer experience at every touch point. Over two days, more than 1,000 family members gathered to review progress and share the company’s strategy with a unified commitment for the months and years ahead.
Speaking at the event, Ross Cormack, Nawras CEO, said, “All Hands is the perfect platform for us to come together and celebrate a great start to the year with superfast broadband including the launch of 4G. We are continuing to expand our network by building new base stations, adding more 3G+ coverage and growing our 4G footprint; together this will further increase coverage, reliability and speed. All Hands allows us to reflect on our successes but most importantly, to challenge each other to work smarter and faster to better serve the people of Oman in a pleasingly different way.”
Cormack recalled that there were only 800,000 mobile customers in the country when Nawras started in 2005. By the third quarter of 2012, the TRA shows over five million, with mobile penetration having risen from 34 per cent pre-Nawras to 185 per cent by the third quarter of 2012.
He also spoke about the impact of the mobile industry on GDP by explaining that according to the GSM Association, on average, a 10 per cent increase in mobile penetration drives an increase of around 1.2 per cent in GDP, clearly showing how important the industry is to empower people with communications wherever they may be. Similarly, an increase of 10 per cent in broadband penetration leads to an increase of up to 1.5 per cent in GDP.
During the All Hands event, Nawras family members from across the country and from every department spent time sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas, in the unique and welcoming way that the company works. A question and answer session with Nawras senior management team concluded the day’s activities.
Throughout the day’s programme suggestions were given to drive innovation and adapt work practises to deliver a higher quality of service in this fast growing industry. There was recognition given to those who had given inspiring performances during the previous year with outstanding contributions to enhance customer experience, increase profitability or introduce substantial cost reductions.
The event organiser, Ayesha Al-Shoily, Nawras People Experience Manager, said, “All Hands is an occasion that reflects the fun and unity we have working together as a friendly and dedicated team at Nawras. We have the chance to meet other family members through engaging activities that promote teamwork and build confidence. We celebrate successes and look for new ways to deliver the best customer experience through our varied roles within the company.”
All Hands is organised by a team of volunteers and every family member is invited to attend. It is just one of the many traditions at Nawras that contribute towards the continuing dedication to giving an award winning customer experience and it reflects the company values of being caring, excellent and pleasingly different.
