MKF Launches 2026 "Ithra" Summer Programs Under the Theme "Skills of the Future"
In line with its ongoing commitment to providing Bahraini youth and with meaningful educational and developmental opportunities, AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF) has announced the launch of its 2026 “Ithra” Summer Programs, to be held under the theme “Skills of the Future.” Targeting more than 100 participants including children, adolescents, and young adults, this year’s program line-up will focus on developing a range of skills aligned with evolving labor market requirements, including artificial intelligence, innovation, entrepreneurship, critical thinking, communication, and leadership.
Running from July 6 to August 23, the programs comprise “Ithra Buds” designed for children aged 10 to 12 to develop essential life skills; “Ithra Young Leaders” targeting participants aged 13 to 14 to strengthen personal and leadership capabilities; “Ithra Youth,” tailored for those aged 15 to 16 to enhance academic and career readiness; and the “Job Experience Program,” which provides participants aged 13 to 16 with the opportunity to explore professional environments and gain early practical exposure. These programs are delivered in collaboration with specialized organizations and certified trainers to create a developmental trajectory that supports participants as they progress through various stages of growth.
The “Ithra Buds” program focuses on instilling core values, building social skills, and strengthening self-confidence through interactive educational activities tailored to the needs of the target age group. “Ithra Young Leaders” places emphasis on leadership, communication, critical thinking, initiative, and responsibility. Meanwhile, the “Ithra Youth” program is centered on nurturing future-ready capabilities through AI workshops, an entrepreneurship track, and opportunities to explore university majors and career pathways, thereby supporting participants in preparing for the next stages of their academic and professional journeys. Meanwhile, the “Job Experience Program” immerses participants into workplace settings, contributing to stronger career awareness and a better understanding of future opportunities.
All programs include a diverse range of sports activities, field experiences, and practical challenges that foster teamwork, discipline, and responsibility within a safe and stimulating learning environment that encourages personal growth, collaboration, and active learning. The programs also align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting quality education, empowering youth, and enhancing the skills required for the future, thereby contributing to the preparation of an active generation capable of participating in national development and making a positive contribution to society.
The programs offer a holistic educational experience that combines personal and leadership skills development, the strengthening of national identity, and academic and professional readiness through interactive and applied activities rooted in a learning-by-doing methodology. They also focus on self-leadership, effective communication, critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. Additionally, specialized workshops train participants on the effective use of AI tools and technology. These elements contribute to developing confident individuals who are better equipped to adapt to the changes of the future.
On this occasion, Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of MKF, affirmed that the Foundation designs its programs based on a firm belief investing in human capital is a cornerstone of sustainable development. She added: “At MKF, we believe that investing in youth is an investment in the future of our nation. Through our enrichment programs, we are committed to providing high-quality educational and training experiences that contribute to character building, skills development, and the enhancement of participants’ readiness for their academic and professional futures.”
Her Highness emphasized that the Ithra programs embody the Foundation’s vision of building a generation capable of continuous learning, leadership, and positive social impact.
