Ministry of Health supports free dental check-ups through ‘Pass on a Healthy Smile’ Campaign

Sharjah Medical District – Ministry of Health (MOH), in collaboration with Oral-B and Crest will provide residents of the UAE a chance to receive free dental check-ups on the 13^th and 14^th at Mega Mall, Sharjah as part of the ‘Pass on a Healthy Smile’ campaign.

Commenting on the collaboration, His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed Bin Saqer Al Qassimi, Under Secretary of Ministry of Health and Director of Sharjah Medical District said, "We are glad to support a campaign that serves to not only benefit many of our residents but one that will also work to cultivate a culture of prevention, by encouraging the public to undergo regular healthcare check-ups including timely visits to the dentist, a paramount objective for the Ministry of Health.”

According to recent research survey conducted by Oral-B and Crest, almost 40% of respondents from the UAE had not visited the dentist in over two years, 19% of which stated that their last dental check-up was conducted almost four years ago**. In order to maintain good oral health, dentists recommend a dental check-up once every six months for both children and adults.

With this campaign we are trying to cultivate a change in behavior, at first at the individual level and then expanding that to include the whole family, i.e. getting people involved in actively encouraging their family and friends to the check-up points, thereby creating a movement of sorts”, said, Mohammed Ali Faruqi, Brand Manager, Oral Care, Arabian Peninsula.
