Ministry of Foreign Trade & DED sign MoU to promote trade policies and exports

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-operate in relevant fields that support the UAE Foreign Trade Policy to promote the country’s global trade. 

The MoU aims to contribute to strengthening UAE's foreign trade relations, build bridges of communication and cooperation with concerned authorities and institutions, and promote the country's exports in addition to opening new trade and investment horizons. 

His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade; and His Excellency Sami Ahmed Al Qamzi, Director General, DED, signed the MoU at the DED headquarters in the Business Village. 

The initiative marks the commitment of the two organisations to strengthen UAE’s bilateral trade, exchange experiences and raise the levels of quality and performance in line with the government excellence standards set by the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme and Dubai Government Excellence Programme. 

The Ministry and DED will exchange business information pertaining to international relations, promote and develop exports in the UAE; coordinate to participate in local and international activities, and cooperate to attract foreign investment. 

"The MoU underlines our commitment to further strengthen the economic and business standards in the UAE. We work closely with our partners from relevant ministries, local departments, chambers of commerce, and other UAE trade promotion organizations to achieve the best business opportunities, position the UAE's economic and commercial status, and boost international trade relations," said His Excellency Al Saleh. 

"We value the continuous efforts of DED to strengthen the economic sector in the Emirate in particular and in the UAE in general and we are confident that the MoU will bring tangible benefits to both organisations as well as our nation’s trade," added Al Saleh. 

"We are pleased to sign the MoU with the Ministry of Foreign Trade, which will contribute to enhancing the level of services provided to our customers by exchanging expertise and information. To further enhance their ease of doing business, DED assists investors by co-ordinating with other federal and local government departments and authorities in all fields, and we recognize its positive impact on the economy,” said Al Qamzi. 

He added: “The MoU will be contribute to enhancing foreign trade and boosting direct investment to our country, underscoring our strategic status as the region’s hub for trade and commerce.” 

The MoU covers the exchange of business information and expertise through office visits, joint meetings and visits of trade delegations. The two organsiations will also hold joint events and take part in local and international exhibitions to promote UAE trade.  

They will exchange publications, legislation, and economic statistics, and also cooperate in providing facilities and advice that help solve challenges faced by exporters (Sanad Programme). Links of the two organisations will be provided on the website of each party for seamless information sharing.
