The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Chairman of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), H.E. Mr. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani headed BTEA’s second board meeting for the year 2018 held on Sunday 10th June 2018 at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The board reviewed and discussed several topics on the agenda including reviewing the financial reports dated up to 31 December 2017. The board praised the solid financial results and the growth achieved by BTEA during the past year. The board also reviewed the financial statement dated up to May 2018. 

The meeting also included a presentation discussing BTEA’s strategic projects that aims to develop the tourism infrastructure by implementing a number of development projects that aims to enhance the Kingdom’s position such as restoring the islands, beaches and sea fronts leading to the surge of leisure tourism and improvement of water sports activities.

The board also expressed their gratitude to the management and employees of BTEA for their sincere efforts in achieving the authority’s plans in order to position the tourism and exhibitions sector as a main contributor to the national economy.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BETA)

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was established in 2015 under the Royal Decree number (76) for the year 2015 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. Whereas the first clause of the Decree number (10) stated that an authority should be established under the supervision of the Council of Ministers

In 2015, BTEA started its operations under the Decree number (9) for the year 2015 to append the Tourism Affairs to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based on the recommendation of HRH Prime Minister and under the law number (62) of the year 2016 to establish and regulate the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) and the Decree number (1) for the year 1985 to establish a Supreme Council for Tourism, and the law number (15) for the year 1986 to regulate the Tourism sector amended by a Law by Decree number (12) for the year 1994.
