Microsoft Live@edu is a free dynamic educational platform that establishes a solid foundation for interaction and information exchange between students, professors and the university community as a whole. Live@edu offers a number of flexible services that go beyond simple email services, such as calendar, file sharing, mobile communication, distance collaboration, and instant messaging.
As a key aspect of Microsoft’s education solutions, Live@edu is regularly updated with new features and services that enable local educational institutions to expand the IT services they can offer their students and faculty, in addition to increasing their ability to maintain and update systems and reduce costs.
By adopting Live@edu, educational institutions are provided with a customized live domain name in addition to Microsoft Live IDs for each individual user that provides students, staff, professors and alumni with access to the latest Microsoft technologies and up to 25 GB of free online storage.
Primarily addressing students’ needs, Live@edu also helps staff, professors and other stakeholders working within education institutions, and enables students and alumni to collaborate and create online communities that last long after graduation and throughout their lifetime.
The Microsoft Live@edu campaign was launched in collaboration with Jordanian Universities Network (JUNet), a non-profit company that connects all 10 local public universities via a state-of-the-art high speed broadband network to create the best infrastructure necessary for advanced higher education and research. The campaign was held from April until June 2011 with participation from all public universities in Jordan.
