Mashreq, one of the leading banks in the UAE, was recognized for its commitment to digital banking excellence recently as it was crowned the ‘UAE’s Best Digital Bank’ at the World Finance Banking Awards 2016. The Bank also received the ‘Best Mobile Banking Application in UAE’ award at the same ceremony.

The Bank currently offers multiple mobile applications for its retail and corporate banking customers. Its anchor retail banking application, Snapp, saw significant upgrades in 2016, many of which were unprecedented in the UAE.

The most recent of these, Card Control, is a service that allows customers to temporarily lock their cards if they misplace them and unlock them once found. The feature also allows them to change the spend limits, transaction amount and transaction count limits on all cards including supplementary cards, and allows customers to reset their card PIN anytime. Mashreq also recently became the first bank in the UAE to integrate with Apple’s Siri for voice-powered payments. The new mobile banking feature allows customers to transfer payments using Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, with a simple voice command.

Subroto Som, Head of Retail Banking Group at Mashreq, said: “It’s always a pleasure being recognized for our continuous efforts in providing the highest quality of services and facilities to our customers. These kinds of awards serve as a reminder of our persistence and dedication to our customers - year after year. We take this award as another stepping stone is building our business and strive to provide the highest quality of digital banking services through newly improved state-of-the-art technology.”

2016 also saw significant upgrades to Mashreq’s corporate digital banking services. SnapBizz, an application that targets SMEs, was launched to help business owners save time, as all transactions initiated through online banking can be authorized from the application and vice versa. And the bank’s MashreqEDGE application enables corporate clients to review their account balances, transaction information and perform transaction authorization for payments and trade transactions. All transaction authorizations are with dual-key or token authentication and have multiple levels of security checks.

Aref Al-Ramli, Head of Digital Banking & Innovation at ‎Mashreq, said: “Our goal has always been to provide the best possible service and products to all of our customers - and these awards are both a testament to our efforts and further proof of our commitment to our digital banking enterprise. The upgrades we’ve made throughout the year will ultimately help to improve the way we communicate with customers, creating a synergy between the physical and the digital – with much more to come.”
