Managing Knowledge and Innovation for Sustainable Development in the Arab World

As part of its commitment to enhance knowledge management, and encourage creativity and innovation among employees of the municipal system, and to shed light on the role of the knowledge and innovation playing to achieve sustainable development, the Office of knowledge management at the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) will organize on Sunday the 23rd of October a conference entitled “Managing Knowledge and Innovation for Sustainable Development in the Arab World” .
This Conference will be opened by a welcoming speech by H.E Majed Ali Al Mansouri Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs and expected to attract a large number of governmental entities officials and local and international specialists in the knowledge management and sustainability field.
The Conference will discuss the experiment of the UAE and other Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in knowledge management and sustainability and the effect of that on economic growth and development in the region, and will focus on the importance of the knowledge management and sustainability in enhancing human development and helping the Arab economies to become more competitive and sustainable especially in coming period after the international financial crisis. It also highlights the specific situation of Arab countries stressing the difficulties they meet in this respect and shows how knowledge capabilities are highly correlated with levels of sustainability using knowledge and sustainability indexes. The conference will address technology transfer and innovation as key elements of knowledge, while the conclusion explores some of the opportunities.
