Mahmoudia Motors - the sole and official dealer of Jaguar and Land Rover cars in Jordan – has supported ‘KAJAKI The True Story’, a highly acclaimed British war film that premiered in the Kingdom on Wednesday 18 March, 2015, under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Mired bin Ra’ad at Al-Hussein Cultural Centre. The premiere drew approximately 500 guests, including the film’s local cast and crew, and high-profile figures.

As part of its support, Mahmoudia Motors provided the filmmakers of KAJAKI with Land Rover vehicles during their seven-week shooting schedule, which took place in Jordan’s rugged desert terrain, ensuring that the movie’s producers and directors had the best off-road capabilities at their disposal.

Nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award, KAJAKI is a tense war thriller that depicts an incident involving a unit of soldiers from the British Army’s Third Battalion, stationed at the Kajaki Dam in Afghanistan back in 2006. After one member of a three-man patrol blows off his leg upon detonating a land mine, his unit rushes to his rescue, only to find themselves trapped in an unmarked minefield. KAJAKI brilliantly portrays the soldiers’ extraordinary tales of bravery, selflessness and heroism in order to help each other.

KAJAKI’s Director, Paul Katis, expressed his enthusiasm to be back in Jordan for the film’s launch, and described the support of local sponsors and partners such as Mahmoudia Motors as instrumental in the making of KAJAKI. As a sign of appreciation for the endorsement they received from His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, The Royal Film Commission and the Jordanian Armed Forces, the film’s producers have chosen ‘The Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers’, which is chaired by HRH Prince Mired bin Ra’ad, as one of four charities to receive a percentage of the film’s profits.

“Over the years, Jordan has steadily emerged as a prime destination for filmmaking thanks to the positive exposure it has been enjoying. Having major motion pictures such as KAJAKI filmed in the Kingdom plays an instrumental role in showcasing Jordan’s versatility as a setting for on-screen and on-ground adventure, which is why – as the exclusive dealers to one of the most powerful off-roading vehicles in the market – we at Mahmoudia Motors are pleased to have been able to support the filming of this movie and ensure a memorable stay for its producers and directors during their visit to the Kingdom,” commented Abdimajid Haithar, General Manager of Mahmoudia Motors.
