For several years, life underwater has been a mystery to many. However, with new advancements in technology, accelerated accessibility and portability are seeing light of day, taking connectivity to the next level. Whether you're a snorkeler, marine biologist or just a weekend water-baby you can now capture your underwater adventures with perfect clarity like never before. Thanks to the new generation of underwater mobile phones such as the LG G6, you can be connected both over and under sea level.

The primary obstacle faced by underwater photographers is the inability to do it with the convenience of a smartphone, which normally results in damage when submerged to any significant depth. The longer wavelengths of sunlight (such as red or orange) are absorbed quickly by the surrounding water, so even to the naked eye everything appears blue-green in colour affecting its productivity and reliability.

“To capture the beauty of aquatic life is an art, which can now be mastered with the portability and convenience of the LG G6. Whether snorkelling off the coast of Musandam or scuba diving around the Marina, never miss an underwater photo opportunity again,” says Mr. Yong Geun Choi, President of LG Electronics Gulf.

Waterproof to a meter underwater for 30 minutes straight, and dustproof, this rugged G6 smartphone has a heightened level of portability enabling it to go where others can’t. It features intelligent elements like its fantastic dual camera, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, and a software backed by Google Assistant Support.

LG shares some tips to perfect the art of underwater photography while enjoying the sun, sea and sand.

  1. Get up close and personal

Discover the deep blue by taking selfies with fish with the super-wide lens LG has adapted that featuresa 100-degree lens with f/2.2 aperture in front of its 5MP sensor. The LG G6 even allows users to mimic the saturation underwater, giving birth to brighter colours than what the eye can actually hold.

  1. Potential Angles

There are many angles available when underwater, as you can move around your specific 'subject'. Try experimenting some of the below mentioned angles to discover the photographer in you.

  • Bird’s Eye – From directly over-head:  This is ideal to take images of a resting turtle on the waterbed.
  • High Angle – Elevated, however not as general as ‘bird’s eye’.
  • Eye Level – Neutral shot: This angle helps you portray images as seen from your own eyes.
  • Low angle – To increase height: This angle is often helpful to deceive perception. It will help you to make your subject look larger than life
  • Oblique angle – Titled shot: Perfect if you want to capture some shots suggesting ‘imbalance’.
  1. Shooting Techniques
  • Photographing Fish: To photograph a fish, learn its habitual movements. Don’t make sudden movements or come too close. Pick a spot along its regular route and wait for it to arrive.
  • Photographing Schools of Fish: The key to photographing a school of fish is to artfully show its shape. If a school is circling in a current, shoot a portion that shows the shape of the current. Gradually come closer by rising up slowly from beneath and use the photo opportunity when you reach the middle.

In order to help you share your beautiful marine experiences with the ones you love, these easy-to-follow tips will have you taking underwater pictures simply 'swimmingly'.
