According to the J.D. Power and Associates’ recent 2013 study, Toyota Motor Corporation’s luxury brand; Lexus topped the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), recently released in the United States.

The study, now in its 24th year, measures problems experienced during the past 12 months by original vehicle owners of three-year-old vehicles i.e. 2010 models in this particular case. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with the fewer number of problems signifying higher quality.

According to this year’s results, Lexus ranked highest in vehicle dependability among all competition brands for the second consecutive year; with Lexus ES led among competitors in the Entry Luxury segment, Lexus RX recording the fewest reported problems in the industry at just 57 PP100 in the Midsize Premium Crossover/SUV, and LS led the Luxury Sedan segment.

Commenting on these achievements, Marketing Manager at Central Trade and Auto Company (CTA) – the exclusive dealer for Lexus in the Kingdom- Mr. Nadim Haddad stated that he was proud of the recognition Lexus has earned globally. In Jordan, this brand is significantly popular amongst its category of luxury cars. This recognition is granted to the car on account of its attributes of safety, innovative design, and luxury features.

He further added, “We are proud to be the exclusive dealers of this award winning brand, as seven Toyotas models recently received awards according to J.D. Power’s Vehicle Dependability Study 2013. They were granted these recognitions for their high power on the road; having Lexus ranked highest in vehicle dependability among all competition brands for a second consecutive year.”

The Vehicle Dependability Study is used extensively by vehicle manufacturers worldwide to help design and build higher-quality models, which typically translates to higher resale values and higher customer loyalty. It also helps consumers make more informed choices for both new and used vehicle purchases. The 2013 edition of the study was conducted based on responses of more than 37,000 original owners of 2010 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. Results were collected between October and December 2012.
