Lexus gets top reliability ranking among luxury auto brands

Lexus claimed back the top spot among luxury automotive brands in US Consumer Reports' reliability ranking, beating BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

This year's resurgence of Lexus was pushed largely by two models- the new Lexus CT and the Lexus IS convertible.

“Consumer Reports have tremendous credibility with consumers. Reports are generated through a team of highly professional car experts who thoroughly test the vehicles from all aspects,” said Saud Abbasi, General Manager, Al-Futtaim Motors Lexus. “We are extremely delighted that Lexus’ commitment to quality has found resonance in this survey. To have the CT do so well in its category -- a brand-new car in its first year -- is indicative of the brand and the values it reflects. This accolade is indeed significant as it comes on the heels of Lexus achieving the highest ranking in the J D Power list for the 13^th year running in June this year,” Abbasi added.

A renewed commitment to quality helped Lexus regain its top rankings in J.D. Power & Associates annual new-car quality study. Lexus had received the 2011 IQS awards for four models, making it the only vehicle with the least amount of problems with 73 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The industry average is 107 problems per 100 vehicles. These models included Lexus ES for Entry Luxury car; Lexus GS for Midsize Luxury Car; Lexus GX for Midsize Luxury Crossover/SUV; and the Lexus LS for Large Luxury Car. The Lexus GS and GX rank highest in their respective segments for a third consecutive year.

Consumer Reports operates the largest and most sophisticated independent automobile testing center devoted to the consumer interest anywhere in the world. The Consumer Reports Auto Test Center is home to more than 20 staff members, including automotive engineers, technicians, and support staff.
