Learn Romanian, the language of vampires, for free at Eton Institute this February

Romanian, a romance language dating back centuries, is the official language of Romania, the 9th largest country in the European Union. The Republic is located at the crossroads of Central and Eastern Europe and is probably better known for one of its regions, Transylvania, or the home of Bram Stoker’s cult film ‘Dracula’. Although the first record of written Romanian dates back as far as the 6th century, the modern script and language are a little more recent and is very close to Italian.
“Romanian is not just spoken in Romania; it is also spoken in parts of Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Hungary. It is taught in over 43 countries throughout the world and we wanted to be the first here at Eton Institute-Plus to offer it to our students” explains Moaz Khan, Marketing Manager at Eton Institute. “Learning a language can be a great way to expand personal horizons and learn about the people and the language. Did you know that a Vampire in Romanian is called a strigoi?”
The free Romanian course will run from 10th February to 3rd March 2012 as part of the Eton Institute-Plus, a weekend extension programme launched recently at the Institute. The classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 4.30pm and will cover the basics in Romanian including greetings, introductions, asking for help etc. and is suitable for anyone at a beginner level. Limited places are available and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
Keeping in mind the high demand and limited places available, registration details will only be announced through Eton Institute’s Facebook and Twitter community pages. Anyone interested is encouraged to ‘like’ or ‘follow’ Eton Institute on Facebook or Twitter and watch out for the registration details.
