Khalifa University commits to enhancing its community’s environment, health and safety

In recognition of its corporate responsibility to continually improve the environmental, health and safety performance of its activities, Khalifa University announced its new Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Statement today, which states the commitment of the University to EHS initiatives that benefit all of the people who work, study, or visit its campuses. 

“The policy statement dictates the University pledge to protecting and conserving the environment and to preventing injury or anything that my contribute to the ill health of its staff, students, visitors, contractors and hired labor employees of KU.”, said Dr. Tod Laursen, Khalifa University’s President, “EHS initiatives are essential to the proactive way we conduct our efforts here. The ‘Incident Prevention’ approach that we are aiming at will contribute to the sustainability of our students, faculty and staffs overall productivity and innovation.” 

The EHS policy statement complies with the Abu Dhabi Environment, Health & Safety Management System Regulatory Framework (AD EHSMS RF), the ADEC EHS Regulation, and other relevant legislation and industry standards. 

“We continually improve our Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) and performance through our unique cycle of developing, implementing, maintaining and reviewing the EHS Management System across all campuses and workplaces, this helps us to contribute to the accomplishment of the Abu Dhabi government’s 2030 vision.” Dr. Laursen added. 

The policy statement issued will be followed by a series of events and activities that will involve Khalifa University community members, and will enhance their awareness and engagement in the implementation of the EHS policy.
