Khalid Bin Kalban named Revolutionary CEO at MENA CFO Awards 2011

Dubai Investments (DI), a diversified conglomerate with interests in the financial, industrial and property development sectors, announced that its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Khalid Bin Kalban has received the prestigious ‘Revolutionary CEO of the Year’ award at the fourth Annual MENA CFO Awards 2011.
The award ceremony was hosted last week on the sidelines of the fifth CFO Strategies Middle East Forum.
The ‘Revolutionary CEO’ award honours a creative and innovative CEO for initiating a significant achievement or ushering in a dynamic transformation across the company.
Kalban won the award for his sharp business acumen and intuitive judgment, which has helped him make smart investment choices and convert DI business interests into an assertive, market-led organization. Kalban has strategically guided DI to become the single largest investment company listed on the Dubai Financial Market. Drawing upon his sound management skills, he has led Dubai Investments to launch, acquire and partner with successful corporate ventures across the region.
Khalid Bin Kalban said: “MENA CFO Awards is an important event that recognises the path-breaking contribution of business leaders in the region. This award motivates me and my team to aspire even higher and steer Dubai Investments towards new horizons in the region.
“At its inception, it was a huge decision to start a diversified entity, when all other enterprises were focusing on the country’s key and profitable industry - oil. Our efforts have achieved fruition and we have established 40 subsidiary companies that operate in a diverse range of sectors including manufacturing, property development and financial investments.”
Sophie Le Ray, Chief Executive Officer, naseba, said: “Khalid Kalban was chosen for the award for his extensive experience which has led to the outstanding success, innovation and excellence of Dubai Investments. The Annual MENA CFO Awards 2011 recognizes the important contribution of business leaders in their respective areas of expertise that have resulted in success for both them and their organisations. Their achievements were measured in terms of financial performance, improved competitive position and company image.”
The MENA CFO Awards are organised annually by naseba, which researches, produces and leads B2B initiatives with the objective of facilitating business in emerging markets. Since 2003, naseba has organised over 400 events and played host to 58,000 executive delegates globally.
