Khalaf Al Habtoor eyes Tajikistan Investment

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group welcomed Yousaf Bobokalonov, Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Abu Dhabi at his office on Al Wasl Road on Tuesday May 26, 2015. Al Habtoor invited Bobokalonov to a meeting after hearing about potential business opportunities in the Central Asian country.

Tajikistan, a former Soviet republic which is known for its rich agricultural land and farming industry, has lush valleys to the north and south of the country. It became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991. It has a developed tourism industry, offering activities from climbing, mountain sports, skiing and hunting.

His Excellency Bobokalonov invited Al Habtoor to visit the country. He said the country has a great historical heritage and unique culture as well as a favourable geographical location with diverse natural landscapes giving it a big potential for further development in the tourism sector.

Al Habtoor said he would be interested to see the opportunities first hand. “I would like to look at what the country has to offer, particularly in and around the capital Dushanbe. It is an attractive city, boasting many parks and neoclassical architecture along the banks of the Dushanbinka River.” 

He added, “Our eyes have always been trained to look to the West, but the East offers a lot of business potential. If an opportunity presents itself, I will consider it. I look forward to seeing it with my own eyes.”

Tajikistan, an inland country which borders Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, has four international airports making travel to and from the country very easy. FlyDubai operates two flights per week to the capital Dushanbe.
