Jazeera Airways and SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries Company Sign MoU to Explore Heavy Maintenance Opportunities
Jazeera Airways, Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier and SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), a PIF company, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Dubai Airshow 2025 to explore heavy maintenance opportunities for the airline’s growing fleet.
The MoU was signed by Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways and Eng. Sami Alnajem, CEO of SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, in the presence of Marwan Boodai, Chairman, Jazeera Airways and Eng. Thamer AlMuhid, CEO of SAMI and chairman of SAMI Alsalam.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation to assess the feasibility, scope, and potential implementation of heavy maintenance services at SAMI Alsalam’s state-of-the-art facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a pivotal market for Jazeera Airways. As we continue to expand our network, we are pleased to partner with SAMI Alsalam to meet the region’s rising travel demand. This collaboration aligns closely with the ambitions of KSA Vision 2030 and supports our strategic growth across one of our fastest-growing markets. The MoU enables us to explore high-quality, locally supported heavy maintenance solutions that will enhance fleet availability, improve turnaround times, and reinforce our five-year expansion plan—from 24 to 50 aircraft and from 63 to 100 destinations. We value the opportunity to work with a regional leader that shares our commitment to operational excellence and long-term, sustainable growth.”
This partnership also underscores the strong aviation ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and highlights Jazeera Airways’ continued investment in strengthening its regional footprint, particularly as it expands services across multiple Saudi cities in support of the Kingdom’s tourism and connectivity ambitions.
Eng. Sami Alnajem, CEO of SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, said: “Our partnership with Jazeera Airways represents another important milestone in SAMI Alsalam’s renewed entry into the commercial aviation sector. By leveraging our advanced MRO capabilities, we aim to provide world-class maintenance support while contributing to the Kingdom’s aviation growth and the localization goals of Vision 2030.”
The collaboration marks SAMI Alsalam’s return to the commercial aviation market and reinforces its position as a regional leader in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services. It reflects SAMI Alsalam’s commitment to advancing localization, strengthening technical expertise, and fostering international partnerships in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
