Injazat hosts Defense Services Marketing Council’s cyber security forum

Injazat Data Systems has announced that it will be hosting a Cyber Security Forum organized by the Defense Services Marketing Council (DSMC) on July 1, 2013 at its corporate headquarters in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Member legal experts of DSMC – a group of representatives for Defense, Space & Security sector companies and service providers eyeing business in the Middle East – will hold presentations and a panel discussion to explain how Technology Transfer is conducted for defense, space and security companies globally.
Among the key topics to be discussed are Trade Controls, Laws and Jurisdictional Reach, Export / Re-export License Requirements, Restrictions on Transactions with Specifically Designated Nationals or SDN, Targets of Sanctions, and Technology Re-transfers. A special session will also be held to inform companies operating in the UAE how they can better protect themselves within the current Technology Transfer laws and restrictions.
“Last year around USD 110 billion was lost to cyber-crimes. What is concerning is that culprits are becoming harder and harder to find, let alone bring to justice. There is a need to rethink cyber security strategies and focus on the impact and efficient conduct of the technology transfers that facilitate better protection against cyber threats. Injazat joins DSMC’s members in coming up with viable and effective solutions to protect industry, the government and society at large against cyber risks,” said Ibrahim Mohamed Lari, Chief Executive Officer, Injazat Data Systems.
Injazat is hosting the event as part of its efforts to help address key issues impacting the UAE’s rapidly expanding information and communications technology domain.
Matthew Cochran, Chairman of DSMC, said “The Defense Services Marketing Council, by establishing the Cyber Education Center of Academic Excellence (CECOAE), is working closely with internationally recognized groups, both government and commercial, such a Injazat Data Systems, to align efforts locally and globally. We recently named both the Former US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration CIO, US Department of Defense, John Grimes to our UAE based Cyber Advisory Board and also the UK Ministry of Defence former Chief of Defence Intelligence, Sir Joe French. We are excited to have the defense, space and security industry community learn more about how they can better transfer technology within the existing global legal frameworks.”
