International Data Corporation (IDC) today hosted the second edition of its annual 'Smart City Middle East Awards' at Dubai's iconic Burj Al Arab hotel to honor the region's most innovative ICT-enabled Smart City projects and initiatives across seven different categories.

IDC has been accepting nominations since January from organizations that have successfully implemented – or are currently implementing – transformative ICT-enabled Smart City projects or initiatives aimed at driving urban innovation through the novel application of technologies, partnerships, funding models, and/or community involvement.

Following this afternoon's dedicated awards ceremony, IDC is delighted to announce the winners and finalists as follows:

Smart Education Award
Winner: Dubai Police (Efaad Program)
Finalists: Khalifa Empowerment Program (Aqdar Smart Awareness Program); GEMS Education (Phoenix School Management System); Abu Dhabi Polytechnic (i-Campus Program)

Smart Health Award
Winner: Dubai Health Authority (Smart Home Care Program)
Finalists: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (AI for Better Patient Care Program); King Fahd Military Medical Complex (Tele-ICU Project)

Intelligent Transportation Award
Winner: RTA Dubai (Al Merqab E-Hailing Monitoring Program)
Finalists: Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (AI & V2X Smart Transport Program); RTA Dubai (Raqeeb Driver Behavior Monitoring Program); DP World (Zodiac Supply Chain Platform); Ministry of Infrastructure Development, UAE (Road Assets Management System)

Smart Utilities & Sustainable Infrastructure Award
Winner: Talaat Moustafa Group (Smart Lighting & Energy Management Project)

Smart Public Safety Award
Winner: Dubai Police (Virtual Training Program)
Finalists: RTA Dubai (Emergency Office of RTA Contact Centre)

Smart Government Administration Award
Winner: Smart Dubai (Dubai Paperless Strategy)
Finalists: Abu Dhabi Municipality (3D Digital Transformation Initiative); Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (SAHMI CRM Digital Transformation Program)

Smart Civic Engagement Award
Winner: Smart Dubai (Rashid Program)
Finalists: Ministry of Economy, UAE (AI Customer Support Project)
