Huawei furthers leadership role in global wireless arena

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has made several landmark advancements within the global telecom sector as the company announces a host of new wireless network solutions. These include the world's first: mobile broadband cloud acceleration solution, LTE-A (LTE-Advanced) inter-band carrier aggregation (CA) solution, and first 10GE Cell Site Router for LTE backhaul. The innovations were first unveiled during the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona.
In an era of mobile broadband (MBB), diversified MBB services and increasing data traffic used by individual subscribers have a huge impact on network demand. At the same time, scarcity of spectrum resources prevents proportional increases in network capacity.
During recent years, there has been considerable discussion about how operators can effectively utilize spectrum assets for greater capacity. Last year marked a significant milestone for the global MBB market with nearly 237 operators from 85 countries having invested in LTE technology.
According to recent reports from the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), Huawei has contributed an industry-leading 20% of all approved LTE/LTE-A core specifications since 2010.
"With the growing use of data services through mobile hotspots, smartphones and tablets, the proportion of user demand on mobile networks has increased exponentially," says Wu Shi Min, President of Huawei Device Mobile Broadband Product Line. "Huawei's superior end-to-end advantages help operators build efficient, sustainable, and profitable mobile broadband networks, as well as bring people a wonderful service experience."
World's first mobile broadband cloud acceleration solution:
This holistic solution optimizes data through the cloud, pipe and device platforms, significantly increasing network access rate by 30 to 80% during network congestions. The Huawei mobile broadband cloud acceleration solution leverages protocol optimization, content identification and code optimization to lower data traffic in operators' network by 20%; greatly improving network capacity. At the same time, the solution features the most advanced data caching technology which can reduce operators' bandwidth consumption by 40% to 70%, bringing a significant reduction of bandwidth leasing cost. In terms of end-user access rate, server upgrades are enhanced via cloud, boosting the access speed of data devices by 30% to 80%.
World's first LTE-A inter-band CA solution:
The solution is expected to revolutionize user experience by allowing networks to meet bandwidth requirements of data-heavy applications, marking an industry milestone and demonstrating Huawei's leadership in field of LTE-A innovation. Demonstrations of Huawei's LTE-A inter-band CA solution have shown inter-band carrier aggregation at 800MHz and 2.6GHz with peak throughput of over 225Mb/s.
Inter-band CA is the most difficult to realize of the three forms of LTE-A CA (continuous CA within the band, non-continuous CA within the band, and non-continuous CA outside of the band). Given existing spectrum allocation policies, inter-band CA not only dramatically increases spectrum resource utilization but also helps operators flexibly combine bandwidth and solve spectrum discontinuity to increase user peak rates.
World's first 10GE Cell Site Router for LTE backhaul:
The Huawei ATN 950B is the world's first 10GE Cell Site Router (CSR) for LTE backhaul, strengthening the capabilities of Huawei's mobile broadband solutions and enabling carriers to deploy extra-large LTE networks whilst providing enhanced mobile data services for users. As the world's first 10GE CSR, ATN 950B covers bandwidth increases from 1GE to 10GE during LTE phases. ATN 950B also supports 10GE ring, L2VPN, L3VPN, and H-QoS and can flexibly schedule various services on complex networks.
LTE-compatible Mobile Bearer Network Architecture, U2Net:
Huawei's has unveiled a new LTE-compatible mobile bearer network architecture known as U2Net. The new architecture provides flexible broadband access to macro and micro base stations, in addition to E2E service delivery and O&M on mobile bearer networks. Micro base stations are deployed in various situations such as in-cross media scenarios. Backhaul networks need to utilize existing media for access to micro base stations in order to achieve a "zero wait" maintenance through cross-media O&M. U2Net provides flexible broadband access to micro base stations in order to achieve this.
