HGH enhances its Trauma services with new state-of-the-art equipment

At Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), we are continuously improving all of our hospitals and facilities to ensure we provide the safest, most effective and compassionate care to our patients.

As part of this ongoing program to improve our services, on Friday 13 March, 2015, Hamad General Hospital (HGH) will be preparing to install the latest, most advanced diagnostic equipment with two new CT scanners, one  in its emergency department and the other in its clinical imaging department.  Having this equipment available in the emergency department will strengthen the hospital’s ability to quickly diagnose and treat trauma patients. 

The work will be led by our skilled engineering teams and will also enable us to move our Hyperbaric Chamber facility to allow for further expansion to this service.  This move will enhance our capacity for dealing with patients in need of specialist and intensive wound healing including in some diabetic cases.

While HGH will remain fully functional during this work, some of our services will be temporarily relocated to ensure a quick and smooth operation while minimizing disruption to patients.

On Friday 13 March, some patients and services in the emergency department will be relocated to other areas of the hospital. The new locations will be clearly signposted. HGH clinical staff and security personnel will be on hand to guide patients and visitors and answer any questions they may have.

At all times during the maintenance work and temporary relocation patient privacy will be protected.

The Ambulance Service may transport non-trauma cases to other hospitals.  In all cases, patients will be given access to the most clinically appropriate high quality care, no matter the hospital destination.
